I’m currently in Clearwater Beach, Florida, for a four day mini-vacation. The weather is hot. There’s activity everywhere with people walking, taking, eating, swimming, riding bikes, and doing beach activities.

The hotel room has an amazing view, but there’s no way to prepare even pre-made food in the room.

While I haven’t made great choices from a health perspective, I’ve realized now, two days into this, that it’s my mindset that keeps me focused (or unfocused).

I have to say there may be healthier restaurants nearby, but I’ve given in to the idea that, “I’m on vacation.”

Though I’ve added in physical activity that I don’t get in my usual day, I have likely undone any benefit by eating more (and less healthy food).

I’d say that an approach needs to be had prior to the vacation. For example, I could have searched the internet in advance for places to eat or shop. I should have designed a plan for incorporating a way to cut fruits and vegetables so that I could prepare these foods without any cooking devices. And like any relapse in mindset, today is a new day.
